Knitted necklace

I knitted this pretty necklace as presents for my sister and two daughters in Christmas 2009.  I would love to have kept the pattern from the magazine, but alas not with me now.

Heights of Abraham

We made an opportunity of the cool weather to drive up to Matlock Bath to visit the Heights of Abraham as we haven't got round to getting up there!

Arboretum Park Monday

On Monday we visited Arboretum Park within Derby, and there is a café run by deaf ladies - and anyone can pop in have drinks and food!

We bought lunch there.

Here you can see Arboretum Park been in Derby quite a while!

The Parcel!

Here it is!

Knitting Nancy here!

In the Sisters Crochet & Knitted in Christ, under the website of Ravelry & SC&KiC there is a kind of a round robin called Knitting Nancy!  She has been travelling around America in the last few months, and she has taken the first trip over the ocean to land in UK to visit me!

The box turned up this morning by Royal Mail, and I am somewhat surprised by the quickness of delivery from USA as I thought it might arrive early next week(!)

But first, I need to write a letter to my son, as he is my first priority before my business stuff, as my hubby says so!  That done, need to do housework and lunch before I can open the parcel! Yay! \o/ \o/

I thought I do regular blog posts for the week whilst Nancy's here with me and there are exciting things to come!  This blog is where I can post photographs so that can be linked to the SCKiC forum posts :-)

More RAOK

From Audrey - prayer partner
From the Sisters Crochet & Knitted in Christ group within Ravelry - here's the photographs of these lovely gifts sent from USA.

Audrey - the quiet prayer partner sent me two balls of yarn and two crochet hooks!  Received it sometime in April.  Not yet decide what to knit or crochet with this one! It may become another crochet scarf, will see how it goes.....!

From "Gigi" RAOK
I was surprised to receive this surprise parcel after my return from a weekend conference at the end of May, to find that Gigi has sent me RAOK box filled in with a sachet - lovely smell of blackberry, hand cream, owl letter opener, pocket tissue box a fiction book, and yarn to knit up a scarf!

Booksneeze Book Reviews

Last year I chose books to read from the Booksneeze website.

I did read this book Heart of Ice for a while, but didn't get round to making a review on it until now.  This book focus on the main character Elizabeth Avery and the three ladies who have unknowingly made friends with Elizabeth in this crime/mystery story.  I was reading this book and I noticed the description of Elizabeth being evil in her actions behind her mask of beauty and strength which is a contrast to the three ladies who have different personalities.  I felt somewhat imitated by Elizabeth's coldness character and stopped reading it.

A Conversation with God is a collection of questions and answers book to those questions we humans find baffling and curious of our existence on Earth.  The book have various topics: God; Bible; The Future; Pain and Suffering; Jesus; Kingdom of God; Heaven and Hell; Humanity; Christian Living; Today's World.  I have read a selection of questions and read these answers to the question given, and it is written in the format of who respond to the questions by this author, imagining himself as 'God' or 'Jesus' or 'Paul'.  Some of the answers are expected and some surprising that makes you to reflect on God's existence and His care for His children.  Worth recommending reading.
